I'm honoured to have had the opportunity to include a few pieces of work in 'Cold as Ice' - the current exhibition at KIN Gallery, Canberra.
This exhibition provided me with the opportunity to experiment further with heat coloured Titanium, and to explore the material in new ways. These pieces were the last created in my Salamanca Arts Centre studio of 5 years - and so feel quite special to me. Most importantly, the exhibition gave me an opportunity to go home to Canberra for a visit - and I'm so grateful.
KIN Gallery Director Ingrid Penc has curated a beautiful exhibition of Contemporary works. Running until May 28, this will be the last exhibition in the current premises before a big move later in the year. Please pop in for a visit :).
This exhibition ran at Sidespace Gallery - Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart, from
Tuesday March 1st - Sunday March 6.
"Rengin Guner, Tanja von Behrens and Jacqui Renton are resident artists at Salamanca Arts Centre - having shared a studio there since 2012.
Reconstruct / Deconstruct is their first full collaborative show.
Investigating elements of change, and the inevitable deconstruction and reconstruction of the world around us - either by human intervention, or as a natural consequence of time and nature - each Jeweller has embraced the opportunity to experiment with previously unexplored concepts, techniques and materials - expanding on their current practice.
This exploration has led to an exhibition that includes the use of a broad range of materials - including raw diamonds, leather, brass, sterling silver, peacock feathers, stones, pearls and plastics."
Now finished, this show has led to a number of ideas for potential production work.
I'm very happy (and grateful, and suprised!) to be able to share the news that my entry to the 2016 Design Tasmania Awards - Tiny 'Askew Earrings' - has been included in the Top Ten Finalists listing, which was announced at a presentation at Design Tasmania in Launceston on Friday November 27.
Peter Whyte's stunning, large-scale photography of the small-product entries ties the exhibited works together beautifully, and I'm very humbled to have been included. Congratulations to all of the finalists - and a huge thanks to Design Tasmania for displaying it all so well!
The showcase at Design Tasmania in Launceston continues until Feb 24, 2016 - with a showcase of works at Henry Jones Design in Hobart from Dec 5 to Feb 24. Winners will be announced on Dec 17 at Arts Tasmania, with a showcase of works there until Jan 28. Voting for the People's Choice Award is open from now until Feb 24, and will be available at all venues and online.
There are some fantastic entries in the award, so it's worth a peek if you get the chance!
I can happily report that all parcels are now able to be shipped for FREE, Australia wide! Parcels will be sent Express using Australia Post - with a signature required on delivery.
If insurance is required this can be applied at minimal extra cost. Please get in touch with any questions.
After more hours in front of a computer than I ever would have imagined possible, and more technology challenges in the last few months than I was ever built to deal with - I finally have a new website!
You just landed on it :)
Thanks for the visit - happy exploring.
